Wiccan Ritual Altar Pentacle Or Pentagram Altar Tiles Ritual Altar Pentacles, or Altar Tiles, can be made from almost any material, but are usually a disk or plate of metal or wood inscribed with the five pointed star in a circle. Some people have even used plain paper with the pentacle drawn upon it, in place of a sturdier version of Altar Tile. Whatever works for you is just fine. In Wicca, Altar pentacles, or Altar Tiles, are placed on the altar and may be used  to consecrate various tools and are a point of concentration during spellcasting and other ritual workings. Wiccan Altar pentacles are associated with the Feminine,  North,  and the element of Earth.

Pentacles & Altar Tiles The Symbolism of the Pentacle The Pentacle is a symbol of a star encased in a circle. Always with 5 points (one pointing upward), each has its own meaning. The upward point of the pentacle star is representative of the spirit. The other four points all represent an element; earth, air, fire, and water. All these things contribute to life and are a part of each of us. All the elements and the spirit are within the circle to symbolize that everything is connected. The number '5' has always been regarded as mystical and magical, yet essentially 'human'. We have five fingers/toes on each limb extremity. We commonly note five senses - sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. There are many more correspondences to the number 5.  I will leave it at that. The pentacle has long been believed to be a potent protection against evil, and may be worn to shield the wearer or hung in the house to shield the home.
