Fairies~Fae Who Fly Sylphs The common image of faerie in American Culture is still the image of charming, sweet, happy Tinkerbell-like beings, who sprinkle dust, and do good deeds, but most closely resembles the image of the Sylphs. The real lore of the Sylph fairy is of a slightly different nature. Sylphs are members of the family of Fae. They are an air elemental, nature spirit. Their home is said to be on the top of mountains, where the wind blows free. These fairies are said to be one of the most evolved of the fae, having incorporated all aspects of the four elements. Wings are symbolic of air, legs of earth, their shimmering qualities of fire, and a shape shifting aspect represents water's fluidity. These fairies are said to be quite beautiful and live for hundreds of years, yet never appear to age. It is said that this fairy can take on human form for a time, if it wishes. It is also said that Sylphs are the source of all life energy, that they work to alleviate pain and suffering. These fairies work to stimulate inspiration and creativity and are quite fond of musicians, artists, and the very loving. They are said to help children who have passed over and can help those that are ill. These fairies work to cleanse and uplift our thoughts and our intelligence. The Sylph fairy is said to move very quickly, within the air. You may notice them just out of the corner of your eye, then look, and they are gone! Sylphs are present whenever you have burning incense. If you want to make friends with Sylphs, invite them along on a walk, drive, or plane ride. You can also make them a gift of a flower, for they love flowers, and it will be much appreciated. |
